Howard Chandler Christy - Guessed he'd tackle her three years more - (From "Good-Bye, Jim," 1913)
This bittersweet illustration, depicting an American Civil War soldier and his doting father tenderly parting ways, was created by American illustrator Howard Chandler Christy for the deluxe 1913 edition of James Whitcomb Riley's 1893 poem, "Good-Bye, Jim". It was lovingly scanned at 1200 ppi from the original artifact, and meticulously restored to eliminate age-related imperfections such as fading, scratches, etc.
