Howard Chandler Christy (1872-1952)

Howard Chandler Christy (1872-1952) was an illustrator and portrait painter, perhaps best known for his 1940 painting "Scene at the Signing of the Constitution of the United States," which hangs in the capitol building at Washington D.C. He also painted many portraits, including that of Theodore Roosevelt, Benito Mussolini, Harry Truman, and Amelia Earhart. His 1934 murals for the famed New York restaurant Café des Artistes (now known as The Leopard at Des Artistes) still exist today.
